Early music has always held a special appeal for me, and at one point, I decided to write new music for early instruments. The viola da gamba is certainly one instrument that should never have fallen from general use – it has a unique and wonderful sound.
Transformations was composed with the transformation woodcuts of M.C. Escher in mind. In this case the music transforms gradually from one thing into another.
