Program Notes

In response to an intriguing request from flutist Myriam Hidber Dickinson for music for an event on Santa Barbara Island, not knowing anything about the place, I turned, of course, to YouTube.  After watching numerous videos about the Channel Islands and getting a sense, as much as one can from videos, of the loneliness of these remote, stark, windswept islands, I began to write.
