6 Contrapuntal Pieces

Year: 1986

Instrumentation: string quartet

Duration: 20 minutes

Program Notes

The flow of interweaving contrapuntal lines of music, from its Franco-Flemish origins to the present, has always interested me. I have always found the sense of timelessness of evoked by independent voices moving at different rates to be transporting and represents the highest form of music. These pieces are my attempt to bring together my own musical language with ancient forms.
